Leo Gordon brings to Training, Assessment & Placement Services (TAPS) years of experience in vocational education and training. His claim to fame includes personal achievements as a lifelong learner as well as pioneering work. He holds a Certificate in Education, a Bachelor of Science Degree as well as a Master of Science in Business Administration. Mr. Gordon currently pursues Doctoral Studies in Organizational Leadership.

Leo Gordon has extensive experience in human resource development. He spent in excess of Seventeen years (17) in the employment of the National Council for Technical Vocational Education and Training (NCTVET). For fourteen of the seventeen years he worked as an Occupational Researcher and the remaining years as the Secretary Manager for the National Council.

As an occupational researcher, Mr. Gordon is credited for pioneering work in the development of national occupational standards in several sectors. The development of internationally recognized occupational standards for Early Childhood Care, Education and Development is one such achievement.

The development of standards for Early Childhood Care, Education and Development involved human resource and funding support from UNICEF and the World Bank. Another exploit of international repute is the set of standards for Youth Development Work established for the English speaking Caribbean region. These Youth Work standards were developed in collaboration with the Common Wealth Youth Program Caribbean Center.

These are achievements that Mr. Gordon can be justly proud of. In addition Mr. Gordon’s work has contributed immensely to the growth and development of individuals and national organizations in Jamaica. The first set of standards for Practical Nursing in Jamaica was developed under the guidance of Mr. Gordon.

Current national efforts to streamline and standardize training in the Allied Health Care sector in Jamaica are indebted to his pioneering work. The National Association of Hair Dressers and Cosmetologists is another organization/sector that has benefited from the work done by Leo Gordon.
